What is crip walking?

Crip Walking, also known as the C-Walk, is a dance that originated in the early 1970s in Compton, California, among members of the Crips gang. It's characterized by intricate footwork, primarily involving quick and complex movements.

Initially, the dance served as a way for gang members to identify themselves and sometimes spell out names or words associated with the gang. Due to its association with gang culture, Crip Walking has often been viewed negatively and linked to gang%20violence.

Over time, the dance has evolved and spread beyond its original context. While some continue to associate it with gang activity, others view it as a form of artistic%20expression or simply a dance style. Variations have emerged, and the dance is sometimes performed in a non-gang-related setting. Despite this, its roots remain a significant part of its history and perception.
